Our history

Demus was established in Trieste in 1962 as the Italian branch of Coffex A.G., a Swiss multinational company with its headquarters in Schaffausen and plants in Europe and America, in partnership with the Mustachi-Fabian family. Originally named Coffex Italiana, after its takeover by Jacobs Suchard in 1981, the Mustachi-Fabian family acquired the whole company, and gave it its new name.
The company name combines the activity of DEcaffeination with the surname of the founding family, MUStachi, who thus continued with Demus a historical tradition of Trieste, a city that has always been at the cutting edge of the coffee industry.
In recent years the company has been overhauled and huge capital investments were made in order to install a new production line, renovate production facilities, modernise laboratories, increase quality and safety levels and reduce environmental impact.
Demus is following a Total Quality Management strategy, considering the need to guarantee high quality products to its clients as its top priority.
